what the fuck is a minimax. . . . .
Rolorel
A short lived sub-format that was basically 3 inch CD's, or CD3's that lasted in Europe. They were trying to make it popular again as it has been in Japan but it didn't work.
Butius
Its basically a CD but the outer 2 inches are printed transparent, can add to the design in a really fancy way.
Punind
same size as a stanard cd but only a minidisc size playing area.

I was wondering the same thing too. Three more words.

If you're familar with the other Autechre/Hafler Trio release, then you'll know what to expect here. More minimal ambient goodness. However, unlike part 2, this album contains 2 long 1-piece songs. Unlike the other release from them, which was broken up into many little songs. Both CDs clock in at about 15 minutes and the packaging is really fancy. These sounds are unlike anything Autechre has done before... picture an even more minimal version of Amber and that gives you an idea what to expect here. I hope they make a 3rd installment to this series.

this release is more minimalist and has less layers than any Haflter Trio release or Autechre release. Only recommended for fans of extremely minimalist dark ambient with very little progression.

Extraordinary release, mainly because its not just another collaboration, but a well thought-out work of two innovative bands. One is more famous (Autechre), another one is less famous (Hafler Trio - basically Andrew McKenzie himself). What they do on this record is quite different from their standards - there are no beats anywhere on this record, a lot of weird, machine-like sounds and generally this is closer to Hafler Trio territory than Autechre and yet doesn't sound like Hafler Trio. This might be a great surprise for fans of both groups.
