I recently listened to this double sided 12 inch, the Bill Brandon “We Fell In Love” is my track.... However, over the years the Lorraine Johnson cover of “the More I Want, the More I Get” is much more appreciated and the female version is a wonderful response to Teddy P. The orchestration is tight and Lorraine gives it proper treatment with her range and earthy soulful chops... Prelude does it again by pairing the 2 songs on same 12 inch record.... Wonderfully done! 2 ???????? Thumbs up!

This Prelude 12 inch is one of the most coveted of the catalogue. I owned both the OG and the bootleg at one time. The bootleg was sold to me as an OG. I immediately heard and noticed the difference and compared it to my original. The bootleg has shorter versions despite the notations on the label, and is not worth having. I immediately chastised the seller and got my money back. The dead wax has the etchings so be careful. I wouldn't be so quick to blame the Japanese for the cost of these gems, our European brethren are fierce collectors. If it was my hunch this bootleg came out of Italy. No strike against Italians, as bootleggers come in all shapes, colors and sizes!! My 2 cents. Hope this review helps!

The original has an etching on the dead wax?The bootleg is shorter in lenght cause the pitch is increased. Probably the bootleger couldnt fit the whole length in the given groves?

Ju Soong is right. Before the stock market crash of a few years ago, the Europeans and Japanese were driving up the prices on a lot of records because the Euro and the Yen were worth almost double the US Dollar, so they could afford to outbid any US buyers because $100 US was only about $50 to $60 in their currencies. However, now that we have been in a global economic recession with high unemployment for several years now, that will only continue to get worse as political and economic systems with serious structural flaws continue to unravel, most of the European and Japanese buyers have disappeared from the record collecting scene and/or can no longer afford to pay super premium prices for records, even if they are still employed.

Yes, I will agree with the rarity of the pressing, but the $1,200.00 price was a result of a bidding war on ebay in which I was engaged in. The buyer (never really found out if this was on the up & up) was Japanese. His extreme high bidding figure took this way over it's real worth.

Can´t beat the Japanese bidders.. Seriously, they will sell their grandmother and sister to aquire rare wax. I saw many of these situations on the rare funk/soul 45´s market back when it was on fire.

Bill Brandon's track works in many moods and is nice, but its Lorraine's vocal here that is haunting, hypnotic and definitely worth finding. Her repeated sections of her "wanting more" vocal riff is orgasmic in the Prelude way. This early example of Preludes style of Disco is what disappeared quickly as records from other companies spilled out Johnny Mathis and Andy Williams disasters flooding the disco scene. This B-side cut reminds me of tracks by Michele on West End Records. Miss Johnson radiates a golden disco number with an amazing funky groove that stands alone as a solid track. This record deserves to get a legit reissue pressing in the future to lets its true disco light really shine!

I don't remember any Johnny Mathis disco records at the time, however, the 1981 CHIC produced album finally got a release, and is FANTASTIC.

yes... I would dare say the rarest Prelude release... not counting testing pressings of course...
