Made In Japan for MCA
Digitally Remastered From The Original Stereo And Mono First Generation Masters.
Original sessions produced by Norman Petty in Clovis, New Mexico, 1957-58 except: "Rock Around With Ollie Vee", "Rave On", "True Love Ways" and "It Doesn't Matter Anymore."
The original Crickets were:
Buddy Holly, Vocal and Lead Guitar
Jerry Allison, Drums
Joe B. Mauldin, Bass
Niki Sullivan, Rhythm Guitar
Pressing Note:
There are at least three versions of the Buddy Holly "From the Original Master Tapes" CD. The original pressing is from Japan, and used the correct master tape as prepared by Steve Hoffman. There were later pressings done in the US, however, which (incorrectly) used the LP master tape for the CD, which resulted in some phase problems: one CD pressing with a count-off on "It Doesn't Matter Anymore", and another pressing without the count-off. They are the same other than the count off.
The original first pressing should say: "Manufactured in Japan for MCA Records, INC."
