One of the best "latter" Atkins albums, with many great guest appearences.

All Chet Atkins fans are familiar with his early works but have given little attention to his later days works. It is really a shame, because fine albums like this one, went under the scope.
But great guitar players, recognize Atkins' mastery and when asked to play on this record, they did without any hesitation.
As a matter of fact for them it was the dream of a lifetime, since Atkins' is considered one of the pioneers of electric guitar, and have been influencing them through historical recordings of the early rock'n'roll era, that he had recorded, played on and produced with artists like Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, Don Gibson, Jim Reeves and many more.

On this album you get to listen to :Chet Atkins, George Benson, Larry Carlton, Earl Klugh, Mark Knopfler, Steve Lukather, Brent Mason, Dean Parks, Paul Yandell. It is truly a guitarist heaven!
Mark Knopfler recognizes Atkins as a guitar hero, and he went on to contribute on Atkins' next two albums, and later on, in 1990, they recorded a whole record, which actually was the last hit for Atkins.

It is a record of instrumentals, allowing the guitarists to express themselves through the guitars. A trained ear, familiar with the sound of each guitarist, will be able to recognize whose playing!
The production is quite good. Perhaps it is the only record of Atkins from that period, that can easily pass the test of time. The compositions are above average, showcasing the skills of each guitarist, that "duets" with Atkins' guitar.
For Mark Knopfler fans, apart from his playing he shares a co-write for one of the pieces.(Cosmic square dance)

The only thing that has let me down was the fact that the CD lasts only for 37 minutes. But I have to remind myself that we are on the dawn of the CD era (1985) and the time-span for each record was around 40-45 minutes, as much as you can fit in a vinyl record.

A unique record, that will please all Atkins' fans, with its jazz-rock feel.
