As the photo model of the cooljazz in 1950s was Chet Baker for a time the icon of the sensitive subculture of that decade. But instead of to climb the ladder of celebrity he remained an outsider, the most important under the ' beautiful losers '. The subsequent thirty years he appeared in and out of the spotlight by brilliant moments with physical decline and personal misery. After his teeth out of his mouth were struck at a drug-related Brawl, he stopped playing for a long time. When he finally made his comeback, he turned out a still powerful, but restless mind appearance. In 1987 appeared the acclaim Baker-documentary Let's Get Lost, but a year later, under the influence of drugs, Baker fell from the window of an Amsterdam hotel and died a death that was just as tragic as his life characterized by genius.
