Dean Martin - Gentle On My Mind / That Old Time Feelin' FLAC

A bit of history for you: my father Bernard H Thorpe used to manage the Dean Martin Association and suggested this release to Pye, convinced it would make a great single that would chart. Pye Records were naturally hesitant. Dino wasn't a singles seller but after pushing them they agreed to release it, asking Bernard to suggest a track for the b-side, so he offered up Freeman’s arrangement of ‘That Old Time Feeling’. For what seemed an eternity, everyone waited for any sign of life in the UK charts for the single. The album had been released, too, but the single itself, while receiving regular airplay, seemed to flounder. Then, all of a sudden, it began to rise in the charts. It was a steady ascent and Pye was starting to take notice. On 1 March 1969, Berrnard's apparent off-the-wall, bonkers suggestion to release a Dean Martin single in the UK paid off: ‘Gentle On My Mind’ reached number 2, stayed there for two weeks and remained floating around the top 50 for another 23 weeks! Strangely, it never charted at all in the US.
