Notes

Issued in Gatefold sleeve, together with a large sticker sheet representing a triangular mountain, a rectangular "DJ Shadow The Mountain Will Fall" and the personage and his crown in a circle. The stencil is wider compared to the one to be found with the CD version and shows: "For use with chalk spray only. Do not vandalize private property. We do not condone the willful destruction of public and private property." Vinyl are stored in printed inner sleeves. Pre-orders of the LP received an email to download the MP3 @ 320 kbps album, but a proper cardboard redeem coupon with a unique serial number was also given with this release.

Differences on this Release as Compared to the Digital Version:
A1: Fades in and Fades Out. Lacks the "HI" present on other version and lacks the cassette sound effect at the end of the track.
A3: Does not include the final "Ralph?" after the speed change as on other versions. Does not fade into "Bergschrund"
B1: Does not fade in from "Three Ralphs" and thus lacks the "Ralph?" vocal from the end of "Three Ralphs"

This is one brilliant album. I read a few reviews, they did little to express who big this album sounds, the bass is subsonic. I just wish he had helped out with Run the Jewels vinyl production, which is bloody terrible on RTJ2 and 3.
Kit
8bitBarry Dhadow shotld definitely produce or co-produce RTJ. Still superb now. Could get even epic.

Pressing sounds great! Packaging is top notch and feels like the price I paid. My personal favorite DJ Shadow album, it has an irresistible mix of atmospheric tracks (The Mountain Will Fall, Ashes to Oceans) his signature 'beats' (Three Ralphs, Calafornia) and vocal tracks (Pitter Patter, Nobody Speak, The Sideshow) Only Issue I have is the fake record static on "The Sideshow" it works okay in digital form but playing from an actual record it sounds awful. At first "Calafornia" didn't really hook me, but after hearing it on vinyl the perfectly eq'd bass blew me away, sounds incredible.

Music aside (which is pretty dope) this is seriously good clean loud pressing and the mixing & mastering is spot on with a heap of tight & focused sub bass going on.Also glad that its not an album full of guest vocalists.
Thundershaper
The album is dope. It jumps around themes, but that also symbolizes this period in music after all. And the pressing is good, well very good, I just put on the Shure M44G's on my HipHop vinyls and get as close as I can to the setup that artists actually use for sampling here (well my opinion). And just enjoy it. Only thing I don't like about the release - the inner sleeves are a bit too tight for the hard paper used against the sharp edges of the vinyl - will break in the middle of the folds fast if good care not taken. But the tracks, well, going to wait for the next one to come out and get that too. So it continues.

Much better work than I had anticipated. His late 90s early 2000s era stands at the top for me, so I was pleasantly surprised with this late career release. This pressing is only OK, some crackling that just won't go away even after RCM cycle, but Rainbo product is always a crap shoot you knew that.Lastly, stay away from fat_beats seller here, who's listed as 1 of the many sellers for this entry. FatBeats the label: their product is totally cool, got no complaints about the label, they obviously are intense about the music n artists that they have released over the many years. I'm talking bout their point guy for selling on discogs - Mohammed, I think? I dunno know about how their customer service via their own website, fatbeats.com, I can only talk bout them as a discogs seller. Whadda an unbelievable character, the guy's got a serious attitude problem, my buddy tried to enter a simple transaction with him a few yrs ago, and Mohammed was an angry loony to him. Again, plenty of sellers to choose for this release, no need to patronize fat_beats here.

Then Mohammed is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. May be he's annoyed with Discogs customers, Discogs sales. May be he prefers dealing with customers directly on his label's own website? Or may be L.A. people in general get pis-sy real quickly. Dunno.
Zulkishicage
My bro' said he was polite in the beginning. But as the days went by, and he found Mohammed's PayPal payment setting was, alas, not set up for credit card (PayPal guest checkout), Mohammed lost his patience, turned Jekyll 'n' Hyde, got belligerent, lost his temper, would not triple check his payment setting, and ultimately left a negative "non-payment" feedback for my bro'. Had to bring the case to Discogs' admin. who removed the feedback and also contacted fat_beats to warn them. It was the one and only time my bro' had an unpleasant interaction with a Discogs seller. Of all the terrible, unjust things going on in the country, in the world, to get aggro/pissed off about, this Mohammed decided to channel his anger over a measly $20 record transaction. That's why I thought Discogs users should be made aware of this yahoo. Not knocking the company he works (worked?) for, just the man. Discogs is supposed to have a reputation for being an alternative to the impersonal fleaBay; a community sharing their love of the hobby. His behavior doesn't jibe with the spirit of this site.

Mohammed is a solid dude. Never dealt with him on here, but he's always been great on the fatbeats site.
Onath
Funky base album. Fresh, solid. Pressing is good too. Shadow good comeback. I don't know why this album low marked by critics reviews.
Goktilar
Solid release by Shadow, very modern sounding ~ maybe like RTJ influence over the entire album. IMO he fell off kinda hard after Private Press but this one puts him back on the map. Not the quietest in surface noise and both LP's are fairly warped on my set.
Monam
iamxaml The Outsider has very fat beats that work great with the raps. At the time it was one of the freshest rap tracks out then. Like you say, somehow it didn't get deserved recognition. Search it on vinyl for a while..
Mot
I believe that the mainstream influences on "The Outsider" and "The Less You Know" were the difficulty. It seems like a recurring pattern, while unfortunately contributing to a fragmented listen. The beats on tracks like "Turf Dancing" on "The Outsider" do not seem to be appreciated as much as they deserve to be. Most of the rapping, basically the "Bay Area EP", also actually is rather solid. Later there is the lengthy "Def Surrounds Us", the second track of the single "I've Been Trying", which is contemporary, but at the same time tends to be more complex.
Levion
This is a great pressing and a great album some tracks are really good compared to others, it offers some juke/footwork, some trap influences mixed with a soul/jazzy vibe all rounded of with careful timing and some strong bass, this is the best thing shadow has done since private press.
