Inerrace

found this album rather meh!..A cold album without much change in style or pace within the ambient and music. There are some subtle triggered effects that shift and shuffle in the background, but nothing to lift it from its rather upfront repetitive drum loops and ambient soundscapes. Felt as if each track was one long build up that never reached a mid or ending climax - nothing! Just a continuous loop of boring minimalistic drum beats with simplistic synth sweeps here and there, plus the occasional triggered sequenced effect also here and there adding very little change. A bland and boring and somewhat simplistic vision of ambient-techno, that personally for me has become a very-very overrated album that's too long and predicable with to much of the same thing on each track.

I don't think you're wrong, although my reaction to this album is essentially the opposite of yours. Each 27+ minute track distorts time such that within what feels like ten minutes, each track has evaporated into the ether. And then I glance at the clock and it's almost an hour later. The music is hypnotic, absorbing and so far rewards repeat listening. I like this album much more than the lauded Voices From The Lake album that got so much praise this year. Maybe the music is especially suited to playback in the cold and desolate air of December in Minnesota.

This CD is seriously GOOD. I was blowing away by this mix of techno, dub, IDM, trance, ambient music. Definitely will look forward to anything Donato will produce in the future. Amazing!
