I too am one of the unfortunate souls with a crackly copy. One blessing though is that because this early Radigue music has no top end the treble can be rolled off quite hard, thus reducing the noise quite significantly.

Re: AguirreRecords's question: correct, the single LPs released later sound much better then the initial double LP pressing. No surface noise, pops or clicks on these releases:http://www.discogs.com/Eliane-Radigue-Vice-Versa-Etc/release/5173596http://www.discogs.com/Eliane-Radigue-Feedback-Works-1969-1970/release/5173547

Anyone wishing to preview the recording of Feedback Works can find it on the Internet Archive:http://archive.org/search.php?query=creator%3A%22%C3%89liane+Radigue%22&and[]=mediatype%3A%22audio%22#maincontentThe .MP3 files have a high bitrate. Worth hearing, but not good quality. I'm assuming they were extracted from the LP.

Sorry man but nothing wrong with the restoration / transfer: the later pressings are fine, but this early one is a very poor quality pressing, unfortunately like many other Alga Marghen releases (Palestine's LPs come to mind)!

I can't agree with the statements made by former commentators. It's true, this vinyl pressing has a few clicks & pops here and there but it never overpowers the music of Eliane Radigue. Have you ever listened to the original files, do you know how they sound? I guess not. So why making these statements against the label? The quality of the covers are amazing and the background information & additional photos, insights is something I definitely enjoy paying for. I think some people just should stick to CD or Digital Files as they don't appreciate the work some people do for them!

Does anyone know if the separately released vinyls sound any better? they got released approximately one year after the 2xlp version.http://www.discogs.com/Eliane-Radigue-Vice-Versa-Etc/release/5173596http://www.discogs.com/Eliane-Radigue-Feedback-Works-1969-1970/release/5173547

Another one to agree with the terrible pressing quality with this and other Radigue releases on Alga Marghen. I have plenty of VG and VG+ records that I find enjoyable so I'm by no means a stickler but for this kind of music it really does get ruined. I'll add that my copies were bought new and look flawless but they have the same problems as the others below, loud surface noise with pops and clicks. Avoid.

Yes, unfortunately this pressing is a real shame. The quieter passages are unbearably noisy with crackles and pops galore and it does not improve much from there. In my opinion; Radigue is one of the most important electronic music composers of the period and it is such a pity that releases of this significance are given this treatment.I do not feel that it is due to artifacts from the original master tapes - but, just poor quality pressing, if it is the original quality at fault, then some effort of restoration should have been attempted before release.

Yes, it is the pressing at fault. Pity.

surely this distortions come from the vinyl quality - regarding restoration i have to add that alga marghen did an absolutelyoutstanding job, saving the max neuhaus fontana mix feed from the garbage can. the original master tapes were lost sothey had to use the horrible copies of mass art and they spent 2 years of restoration and the results are simply stunning.(i used to hear a "mint" copy of mass art original and it sounded beyond words)

Sorry to blow a hole in your hypothesis, but I have half a dozen Charlemagne Palestine LP's from this lable and they ALL sound like crap. There is absolutely no doubt that this is the worst lable out there, and why these big artists keep going back is beyond me. This latest example takes the cake. They RUINED a beautiful recording from Radigue. I'm an "audiophile" and I can hardly listen to my copy..the least they could do is give everyone who purchased this thing a free digital download or something where we can experience this wonderful piece without having to listen to massive surface noise. Otherwise, I feel like I have been ripped off.

It seems that as we dig deeper into the piles of tape reels, the quality of recording falls. I would argue that it is more likely a result of the original masters (probably not being masters at all, but incidental recordings) than a consequence of incompetence on behalf of the people at Alga Marghen - you can accuse them of a lot, but certainly not that. There are times when audio artifacts from the age of a medium add to its effect, but I would perhaps agree with previous reviews that it is not the case here. Being Radigue, however, it is likely better to have heard poorly than never to have heard at all.
Rias
horrible pressing quality, should´t be sold, only recommended for deeply involved buddhists.

Another shitty pressing for a ridiculous price tag...What's wrong with Alga Marghen?
