Eye Of Solitude, Marche Funèbre - Collapse / Darkness FLAC

Starting off with Eye Of Solitude, Coming out of London, UK, this Death/Doom 4 piece bring forth slow, dragging melodies filled with despair, longing and sadness. The song starts with a long intro with synth and howling/moaning voices. The backbone is a slow pulsating low pitched guitar which fluctuates between notes in a 4 beat manner. It may seem monotonous at first, but it lulls you into just the right state of unpreparedness when the main riff hits like a sledgehammer. The distant growling vocals of Daniel N. feels very fitting to the rest of the theme. A downward spiral of prolonged notes are being repeated over again as the vocalist sings “The sins of life to pained existence in the arms of perdition.”This seemingly futile pattern of both vocals and guitar notes are my main attraction to the genre as a whole. The lamenting voices from the intro reemerge, and the guitars and drums back down a bit before the final phase, as to give the entire composition room to further cement the impression unto the listener. The phrase “Entangled by you, entangled by us” is repeated as I bow my head in acceptance, humility, and respect for the creators of such an immensely impactful piece.
Marche Funèbre’s contribution to the cooperative project is a more upbeat, and lighter piece. More heavy metal focused in the sound but still within the Death/Doom genre with their use of vocals and a relatively low paced rhythm. The main theme in the lyrical department is one of a civilization turned apart by an eruption of a volcano, leaving a barren landscape of still rivers, treeless sceneries, and empty oceans. In the end, darkness conquers all, and becomes the universe.
