Substance Abuse is just an 11 out f 10. Much more words than this are not necessary in my opinion.

even though this is an NSC record, it's a bit disappointing if you compare it to the digital version. the bass is thin because the mids and highs are disproportionally loud and at times there's a squeaky sound throughout the track
Prince Persie
Yes the NSC pressing is sketchy but it sounded awesome on a PA back in the 90's. The LP version on warp did sound cleaner but diodn't have the presence on the floor.

I have been playing this record over & over again & again in berlin 1991 at the planet club (vol. 1) and other locations in berlin. f.u.2 is a blue print to so called "intelligent techno" how i describe it to myself. this record has a massive input to me and my understanding of what techno changes a lot in the approach of modern electronic dance music. this record builds pictures in my mind & brings me in certain states of mind. one of my all time favorite techno tracks and dive into the music. we have been very very lucky at this time to have the hardwax record store which bring all! the important techno tracks from all over the planet to berlin. thx again to the pioneer mark ernestus!

I totally agree ive always said that since day 1. I thought it was only me aswell The bassline in energy flash is heavy but this one is just haunting and even heavier and i think the angel voices is better alot more haunting too in Substance Abuse. They would sound great both mixed together in my opinion.

F.U.2 sounds a lot like Circuit Breaker - Overkill (also from Hawtin, but then on Probe records). It has the same acid sound, same bassline and same echo sounding claps. Excellent acidic freaky techno.
Barinirm
excellent track substance , although this track confusion is muchbetter, i do is playing in argentina clubbs & 90s partys, enjoy when this beat downing and before up the beat and acieed enjoy the "confusion" misters.

In my opinion, "Sunstance Abuse" is an answer to Joey Beltram's "Energy Flash". The 2 tracks have very similar basslines, but instead of Ecstasy, the big voice says Overdose in Hawtin track. And after that, you got a kind of acidic requiem with angel voices...
