The recording was completed in October of 2012 with Chris Blancato at Bear Claw Productions in Sydney Australia.The song, co-written by Ben Kidd and Brent, is a great choice for their first release. It energetically and lyrically represents exactly where they are at right now in their career. They are feeling out their way, going with the flow, making decisions based on what feels good. And it is their hope and understanding that in good time this will bring them all that they desire.

Gods of Rapture are an Australian alternative rock band formed in March 2010 by lead vocalist, guitarist and composer Brent Rowley and guitarist Benjamin Kidd. In June of that same year Bill Burke joined the band on drums, and in January 2012 Ben Dudai completed the line up on bass.

Strangely enough it became a reunion of sorts, with all members aside from Bill, having played together for many years in Quirk the Gimp, who graced the many stages of Sydney between 2001 and 2007.

Their aim is to write music that inspires and excites them at every turn and to provide lyrics with substance. Each and every performance is treated like it was their last and delivers a highly energetic and entertaining show for their audience. They can drop massive riffs and soaring melodies and then switch on a dime to give our ears something softer and more sonically emotive. There are heavy groove oriented guitar lines, and wailing guitar solos that speak wildly of their 90’s musical heritage. Bills drumming style is solid lending to legendary rock and groove players of the past. Ben utilises every inch of his 6 string bass, ripping out huge solos and precision grooves, and Brent’s vocals are a dominant force, big and in your face.

Gods of Rapture certainly don’t aim to fit into any mould and yet they have no illusions. They understand that we live in a world of labels and boxes for almost everything and are happy for people to place them anywhere, for in doing so they’re creating an avenue of understanding to their music. At the end of the day they’re just 4 guys who love to play and write songs, and they simply desire to share this love and passion with anyone who will listen.

It was with this aspect of joy in mind that the name Gods of Rapture was chosen by Brent and Ben Kidd. They both liked the name after hearing a song of the same title by Swedish metal band Meshuggah. The concept for the use of the name was very simple. As Brent has said….”we are all Gods of Rapture. We are all in charge of creating happiness in our lives. It’s up to all of us to make the decision to do what we love. It’s up to each individual to decide to be happy. No-one can do it for you…”
