US edition of Hayley Westenra's album "Odyssey."
Recorded February—June 2005.
Includes note from Hayley:
"I would really appreciate you taking the time to check out www.unicef.org.nz and see the great work that UNICEF is constantly engaged in trying to alleviate some of the problems facing young people around the world today... It is a cause that as a UNICEF Ambassador I am wholeheartedly dedicated to, but we really need your support wherever you can."
The U.S. edition of Odyssey features several alternate versions of songs found on the international release. "Never Saw Blue [Full Length Drums Mix]" includes a drum track that is left out on every other release. "What You Never Know [Sunrise Mix]" is poppier, slightly sped-up remix of the original track, found only on this release and a rare UK promotional single. "She Moves Through The Fair [Classical Mix]" cuts the uillean pipes/Irish whistle duet found on every other release in favor of the solo Irish whistle, giving the track a slightly more eerie feel to it. Finally, "My Heart Belongs To You [US Mix]" is only slightly altered from the original, throwing in some extra percussion to add a bit of extra "oomph" to the track.
Also included on the US version of Odyssey is the song "You Are Water," replacing "Bachianas Brasileiras No.5 Aria (Cantilena)," found on the normal version. This track was written especially for Hayley to perform on "Oprah," and therefore was a must on the album to boost sales. While her performance was cancelled, the song remained on the album. The only other album of Hayley's to include this track is a Japanese compilation album entitled, "Prayer."
