Vikus
The Carnage Mix was a huge classic in Belgian clubs. Its helicopter-like intro levels the field for the following rain of growing, high-pitched keys, the waves of synth and the groovy bass. The singing (the same in all versions) is sentimental, yet the mixing feels a bit glossy, perhaps. The rawer, aptly-named Space Sweep Mix is therefore more interesting, perhaps. Starting from gentle keys and whispered moaning, it builds up to fill the room and sweep everything in its path like a tsunami of sound. The mood is as blue as anything in the land that saw the birth of the Smurfs, and the emotional vocals about a lost love are accompanied by stompier beats. Floor-damaging in an epic way!
