Bon in Miskloc, Hungary in 1939, Yotchk’o started music at 5 years old then came to France at 17 to study at Paris Conservatoire (reeds, piano, composition avec Nadia Boulanger and followed Olivier Messiaen .
In 1959 at the Bohême, he played with Mal Waldron, first of a long list of partner amongst whom are Charlie Rouse, Phil Woods, Steve Lacy, Ornette Colman, Pharoah Sanders, Dave Liebman, Kenny Barron, Joachim Kühn, Daniel Humair, Henri Texier ... 1969 : with Ziegfried Kessler, Didier Levallet and the percussionist batteur Jean-My Truong, they initiate a group : Perception.
The following year finds him in the group Magma and in 1973 with the pianist François "Faton" Cahen, with whom he then created the group a Zao.
In 1976, he organises Neffesh Music, ensemble,for jazz improviser & soloists coming from the Pierre Boulez's Ensemble Intercontemporain. Between1983 and 1985, Jean-François Jenny-Clark, Kessler, Michel Godard and percussionist Peter Gritz participate in Chromophonie, rather large orchestra followed by a septuor of saxophones .
In 1988, he plays in quartuor (Kessler, François Mechali, Gritz) Monk's compositions followed in 1993 by Coltrane'swith 18 instrumentalists.
A painter and sculptor he is the father of jazz violinist Debora Seffer.
Colour splashes, melting magma, he plays like he paints and sculpts : he IS the melting pot of the dancing lyrisme of his compatriot Bartok, the Coltranian fire and the self proclamations of a Monk with a multi-instrumentisme virtuoso (from sopranino to basssaxophone) and with a endless passion.
