This is a brilliant performance. Easily among the best, which is all one can really claim, I think, given each performance must make decisions that preclude others. If you love these suites, you owe it to yourself to have this recording among your set. As a pressing, this is the most thrilling I have heard. In fact, it is probably the most spectacular recording I have heard, period, at least on my system, which is no slouch. $100 is a significant outlay. In this case, well worth it. Baby it and let it love you back for the rest of your life.

I finally listened to my copy recently. Only the first two sides. I'm familiar enough with these pieces, but I've never heard the Starker performances until now. Can anyone tell me if the buzzing of the strings is inherent in the recording? Or is there something wrong with my turntable settings? My system? The buzzing seems excessive, but maybe that's just me. Any comments appreciated, thanks!
