I have yet to buy a modern Fahey reissue that isn't filled with noise. My copy of this set is riddled with noise. I'm not usually picky, but I can't even sit through these without thinking about how much money I wasted on this POS. I'd had some luck with 4 Men With Beards in the past, but now I'm done and bitter.

4 Men With Beards is a definite avoid label. nothing good ever comes from them...
terostr
which recordings are these for the blind joe death and death chants records
lolike
Some of those are in blue vinyl. Mine is but I am not sure how many others.

Some of the records in my Transcendental Waterfall box are pressed off-center. What a shame for what is supposed to be a luxurious high quality box set like this.

Basically 4 men with beard$ can make all the promises they want in their one sheets, they can enlist Stoughton and God himself, but they will often use dodgy masters, digital sources, and resort to craptastic pressing plants to make the margin$. This has been going on more or less since the label started, but the issues have mounted as time goes by. They have some nice product, but you have to research public opinion on a release-by-release basis, and then cross your fingers you get a god one.And yes, it is more than a shame for a premium offering. BS is what I call it. Go source the six Tacoma recordings in reasonable shape for 3/4ths of the money and feel like you bought a piece of history instead of lining some urban lumberjacks's pockets.
