the one I received is a little warped, but somehow it's fine.

SLEEVE8/10The sleeve itself was a significant improvement from the crappy low-definition JPEG that was on the back of the "In Tongues" record, and despite being quite minimal, it worked very well. The spine was centred, the material was tough, the inner sleeve was printed this time and not a generic paper one, and had a doodle by Joji printed on one side (scanned incredibly well, it looks amazing in 12"!) and the track titles on the other side. My only slight annoyance was that they had so much room to print lyrics or even the little image of Joji with the showroom dummies in the CD, but they didn't. Overall, what you'd expect of a record of standard price.RECORD (VIEW)8/10The centre labels were again quite minimalistic, a theme Joji was obviously going for, and looked good. I wouldn't class them as excellent, but then again I don't really know what my definition of excellent would be. The "Ballads 1" logo is printed at the top and is of a decent size, the tracklisting at the bottom and a simple "Side A/B" at the top.RECORD (SOUND)5/10The problem with the record is not the fault of the pressing plant, but the mastering of the songs themselves. The tracks mastered well, like "Slow Dancing in the Dark" and "No Fun" blew me away with their quality, the bass being strong and the treble defined; the flip side of that is that the ones mastered dreadfully ("Wanted U", "XNXX") sounded terrible. Like, absolutely awful. There were also a few pops in "No Fun" and the whole of "Come Thru", a great amount of crackle in "Attention", "I'll See You in 40" skipped constantly, and the last two tracks pitch-wavered all the way through, which was painful to listen to.OVERALL 7/10The sleeve was a huge improvement over last time, but the sound quality was hit-or-miss. The general idea is you master it well digitally and that transfers well to wax, and some tracks sounded horrible digitally, although some sounded amazing on vinyl, more so than as an audio file. It's a must have for all serious Joji fans, but not for the casual listener.

What turntable are you using? Skipping overall seems more like an issue with your setup. But i could be wrong
