Notes
notes on backcover:
In the summer of 1975, the Society for the advancement of Ghanaian Culture in Great Britain invited the Highlife Rhythm Doctor K. Gyasi and his Noble Kings Band to tour Europe
The tour, which was originally intended to last for six weeks, went on for five months (July-November), taking the band to most of the principal cities in England, Belgium, and West Germany. Wherever they entertained the band brought credit on themselves, and consequently they were acclaimed as one of the most talented groups of young musicians ever to visit Europe.
A particular comment which is worth quoting was made by a proffesseur of music after one of their engagements in Hamburg, West Germany:
"The originality of their style and meaningful message on their traditional compositions which blend beautifully with current beats to produce their own brand of musical expression, tell us that Ghana or Africa has something great to offer the popular music world of today."
This album is the first release of four new LP's recorded at the Island Recording Studios, Basing Street, London, after the end of the tour.
I believe any music lover would be proud to own every one of them.
