Killing Joke, what a magnificent live band! The first tracks I ever heard from them was the music of this 10"-album! The opener Pssyche is pure thrilling energy, an energy that Killing Joke have always held the key to.Many bands nowadays miss that energy.Brilliant song.A song that now, 2009, comes sometimes in my head. Also the songs Unspeakable or The pandys are coming conquer a place in your brain.

In 1985 you had in Asse-Terheide, here in Belgium, "Radio Terheide", a local radiostation that was playing all day in all day out new wave and alternative music and Killing Joke was also regularly on the menu.In 1985 Killing Joke attacked the hit charts with the masterpiece "Love like blood" and later followed by the good single "Kings & queens".

That summer I saw them play live on the Seaside-Festival in Adinkerke.Perfect set!On national radio "BRT 2" they played "Turn to red".I hope to see them again live.If you see a man wearing a black jacket with a patch of killing joke on his left arm, it's probably me !:-)

The first Killing Joke recording following the orignal band's implosion in february 1982 the reasons for which were widely reported and remain subjects of debate nearly 25 years later. Punk icon Youth was no longer present, (reports of his being found wandering naked and confused in london streets made the music press and he went on to found 'Brilliant' and tour with Bauhaus), and was replaced on bass by Paul Raven who had previously been seen wearing 'fashionable leopard skin' clothing on the sleeve of a Neon Hearts LP. Raven added a tighter and more sinuous, maybe even 'poppier' side to the band's rhythms, but debatably at the cost of a slight loss to the intensity of the live performances.
