Created by Mark Deadrick at the request of his friend Mike Halloran was, program director of 91X in San Diego. He wanted asked Mark to do a parody song about MTV / 120 Minutes host Dave Kendall, based on his mannerisms.
This was created all with a Roland S770 sampler through MasterTracks Pro on a Mac IIci. James Brown “Funky Drummer” drum riff over the AC/DC “Back in Black” guitar riff. It was carted up and aired on 91X under the name the Whitman Samplers, and played during the nights.
Tatu Ruggeri got a copy to Steve Masters at KITS in San Francisco and somehow it got pressed into Vinyl - probably by Los Angeles record promoter Mike Jacobs, who sent it around to DJs across America.
Same track on each side despite the different catalog numbers, which appear only in the runout on both sides of the vinyl. The catalog number appears as TR-XXX in the runout on side A and as TR13-XXX in the runout on side B
