one life
This is a great compilation of "John". Picks are a wise selection which puts a different perspective on the "best of" type. Most such albums will highlight almost purely on commercial best, but here you see picks which combine the songs everybody is going to obviously want to hear with more obscure material that shows the character of the turmoil both in society and his own life that Lennon had been experiencing.
Shortly after this album, Lennon's own life would change for the better, and so would all of John Lennon's own attitudes need to be re-examined by himself as well. His last albums sum up that joy far better than my words could, and to me the loss of the promise of such a potentially long future of happiness and music is one of the saddest things about John Lennon's untimely demise.
That break in time, the re-unification with family, and those segments of Lennon's life meant that this album preceded the change in John's life and to me, by coincidence, it became a great summation of that period in Lennon's life.
Other collectors may desire this LP for the same reason I did. I owned a different LP, & one of the cuts was scratched, so I bought this LP just to get a nice clean version of a song I loved instead of re-buying the other album.
