Japan-for-U.S. combined CD issue of selections previously featured on two separate Varèse Sarabande LP's: 704.110 ("Nights In The Gardens Of Spain") and VCDM 1000.170 ("The Three Cornered Hat"), both performed by Enrique Batiz and the Orquesta Sinfonica Del Estado De Mexico. The release includes an eight-page booklet with liner notes by Noreen Field, Frances Rickett, and Tom Null; brief biographical notes about the composer, conductor, and featured soloists; and color front and back covers, the former featuring a reproduction of a painting by an unidentified artist.
Total time: 56:09
The title of Track 2.4 is given as "The Miller's Dance" on the back of the inlay card, and as "The Miller's Wife" on the CD label. Since Track 3.2 is already entitled "The Miller's Dance," the latter seems to be correct, and has been included in the Tracklisting section as per [g1.7.3.] & [g1.7.4.]. Also, the actual track numbers on the CD don't match those on either the packaging or the CD label -- only just discovered! -- and have therefore been corrected for the Tracklisting section as per [g1.7.1.] & [g1.7.4.]
The composer's last name is spelled as "Batiz" on the top of the inlay card and the CD label, but as "Bátiz" on the booklet cover, bottom of the inlay card, and in the liner notes -- the former has been used for the official title and the conductor's credit as per [g3.1.2.], and the latter has been used as an ANV for the PAN Enrique Batiz where appropriate as per [g2.5.2.]
The division of "The Three Cornered Hat" into two parts is detailed only in the booklet (and not as part of the track titles!), but for the sake of both accuracy and completeness, they've been incorporated into the Tracklisting section as per [g1.7.1.] & [g1.7.4.]
