What a TERRIBLE pressing! Consistent pops through out the first side. Are there not quality controls on these?
Fog
mine also has surface noise, which for Mazzy Star kinda sucks. And I cleaned it with an Audio Desk System Pro so it can't get much cleaner. sigh.

What a gorgeous EP. Lovely addition of piano and otherwise blissfully droney. Hope Sandoval can do no wrong. P.S. no noise issues here

Thanks again to WesHeadley for alerting us to this. I just want to add that I have the original LP pressings of the first 3 Mazzy Star albums and they all sound fabulous as indeed does the original LP of Bavarian so I recommend looking out for them instead of these grubby reissues. Don't be too concerned with price; pay more, buy less and you'll easily have both the coin and the enjoyment of these fine recordings

That's fair, but I disagree with you about "all new records are poor quality." It depends where they come from which has always been the case. Rainbo has a shoddy track record going back a long time though it's fair to say they've gotten worse, especially United. I usually hunt for originals, especially if a particular reissue is bad but if it's something from Record Industry, RTI, or even GZ I'd get it.

Sure, I realise that and I should have explained my point more clearly. Basically I raise this point because WesHeadley mentions buying and being disappointed by Mazzy Star's pressings generally. I wouldn't want people to think the originals (when compared to any reissues) are like that because they are not - all are fine records. And I guess my unstated point was that we should stop buying new records, almost all of which are poor quality, and look out for good quality originals, especially in the case of Mazzy Star who mostly sound very similar from album to album (ie nobody's missing anything by skipping this release)

This isn't a reissue. That said, Rainbo pressing so it's a gamble. Mine sounds great fortunately.

A beautiful ep-- musically speaking. But my copy is marred by non-fill distortion and excessive surface noise. Going to try another copy-- but I've had nothing but bad luck with their vinyl. Their last LP was a particularly awful pressing. This one is merely bad. Will update this review after I review another copy. Most releases I've bought of either Hope Sandoval's solo work or Mazzy Star have been pretty consistently awful pressings. The UMC release of So Tonight that I Might See is an exception-- overall the best Mazzy Star release I've bought.UPDATE 6-13-2018: Received another copy today-- every bit as bad as the first-- especially the intros on both sides-- obnoxious non-fill distortion.
CrazyDemon
No distortion, very little surface noise but as others here I have an annoying "click" most of the first track. This is my 2nd copy of it & the 1st one was worst, I'll see with my record store if we can try a 3rd but it's really disappointing
Nuadazius
Same problems with my copy. Some distortion and continuous clicks and pops at the first track...
Arthunter
I picked one up last night and have no issues with mine. Prior to spinning it, i used a brush as i do with all lps. Maybe its just a simple solution (?). IDK. Anyway, my copy had none of the mentioned issues people are talking about.
Grosho
My copy got lots of surface noise and pops on the first track too... Too bad because I think it's recorded very good.
Unereel
I got lucky, mine is great. It's a shame they keep using Rainbo to press stuff though, imo a disservice to fans tbh.
Loni
I have the same problem. I already experienced it with the Hope Sandoval LP. I've been putting more weight on the tone arm and it's soudig better. It's a shame because the songs are great.
Sataxe
Exact same review from me, word for word. It's a shame.
