this was the period of curt kirkwood's meat puppets post the departures of original members cris kirkwood and derrick bostrom. whereas the full-length Golden Lies is a fine album on its own terms, the You Love Me EP is an unheralded (and mostly unknown) gem.
featuring a couple of GL's singles, the real attraction here are the tunes that never saw commercial release. God's Holy Angels is an epic beauty; Been Caught Itchin' finds curt evoking his1982/meat puppets I vocal approach...something i never expected 20years on.
whereas Golden Lies present this new lineup offering itself professionally, the You Love Me (promo) EP is as weird and eclectic as the meat puppets' earliest output. and at over 29minutes, it's only about 5mins shorter than the (absolutely essential) full-length Up On The Sun.
