This is definitely an unsung classic of deeper German psy trance. The track 'My Plan' is one of my all-time favorites, and Magma used to fill dance floors when I dropped it on vinyl nearly 20 years ago. The album has edited versions of 'How Can U Be So Sure?' which is nearly three minutes longer on the vinyl (b-side to 'My Plan'). Mr. Stehn went on to produce equally complex psy under the name Segment in the early '00s, but then seemingly vanished. I would love to know if he's producing under a different name now.

Closed Sector is also much longer , actually 8:17 on the LP . Does anyone know are these tracks the same as on another LP , they are 10 sec longer Montage and Bringers Of The Dawn from https://www.discogs.com/Morphem-Montage-Bringers-Of-The-Dawn-Loving-Spirit/release/132597

Morphem's deput is, what I gather, somewhat gone under the radar when talking about the great old school albums. Hi has a darker approach, yet it isn't something I'd dare to compare to names like UX or Slide. The vibe on 'Out Of Focus' is reminiscent to X-Dream of the same period, long build-ups that are ultimately satisfied with well thought climaxes. Morphem has the knack to add elements in the right places to maintain the intrigue, yet not going overboard. The charm here, thing to keep bringing me back to this album time after time, is that it avoids being too obvious in its motives. A bit "out of focus" indeed...The other notable thing is the "German engineering" - the sound quality is really clear and the bass has enough drive to work on clubs even by modern standards. And to answer to the other reviewer's statement - no, it's not depressive music if you ask me, quite the contrary.

This is relatively depressing music compared with lots of melodic morning goa trance. It's great! The tracks here are really complex! They are slower with darker sounds and somewhat confused/depressing samples, notably those used on "My Plan" and "Nothing Left". This is a marvelous album for 1996. Some of the tracks aren't all that interesting or it would be 5/5 for sure. For me the best track is "Love Is An Ocean", which is downtempo-ish, dark, heavy and intricate. I haven't heard anything much like it, especially from 1996. Recommended for sure!
