Floating Invisible
Nick Toone is an instrumental solo artist based near Birmingham, England. ‘Floating Invisible’ is his first release for Rubbish Records (www.rubbishrecords.co.uk).
Tracks from two of his previous albums ‘Noodlehead’ and ‘Setting Suns’ (both privately produced) were regularly featured on Alchemical Radio, Radio Caroline (Netherlands) and Spydaradio throughout 2003.
Nick’s obvious influences include Ozric Tentacles, Pink Floyd’s longer, spacier tracks & Gong’s ‘Radio Gnome’ trilogy.
Working entirely within the confines of his home studio, Nick has produced an album of instrumental music which, for want of a better term, can be described as ‘space rock’. This is a lazy pigeon-hole perhaps as some tunes are definitely more ‘space’ than ‘rock’, such as the title track which clocks in at over 12 minutes!
A variety of instruments were used in the production of this album - guitars included the Line 6 Variax and Hohner G3T, while synthesisers such as the Korg Prophecy and Novation Supernova 2 helped create the electronic backdrop.
