Hong Kong based Otaku Soundsystem Collective, consisting of Lasermagnetic London / Spacemachine Rec's Johnny Hiller, Tokyo Matt (Right Right Right / Tokyo Editsu) and Swedish producer Samo DJ (L.I.E.S. / Born Free Rec.) release the first edition of their most revered cuts and tracks which have truly moved party-goers at their monthly soiree in a well known Hong Kong gay bar, the perfect environment for late night plots for pulling the neon city from out of the confines of its comfort zone.
The compilation suitably titled 'Balearic Pop Age' features 12 carefully picked tracks, all of which were last brought to life in the 80s, or which perhaps peaked too early, or which might not have registered outside of the cities from which they were originally cut.
This collection offers a carefully crafted package of sonic delights for even the most ardent music enthusiast or those collectors who appreciate the carefree times a soundtrack like this transcendences.
Expect unearthed, re-discovered and readjusted Balearic moments , easy and sleazy grooves, a collection that wears its heart on its sleeve and one which trips effortlessly from emotional pop through to esoteric disco. These emotionally tinged movements have been thoroughly road-tested and calibrated for the most discerning of dance floors, and as a compilation it could happily be used as the back drop to any sunset sessions in Bali or Croatia, or could be willing to put a big smile on your face at 5 a.m. in the basements and backrooms of Tokyo, Stockholm or London. Not forgetting the neon lit basements of Hong Kong. A place where this journey first began and will continue to grow..
This Japan only CD release will be available from 1st October 2013 at all good record stores throughout Japan.
