I have three copies of this and each one is different.Version 1 - Purchased 18 years ago in Newcastle, UK. A is the usual label with 12 A -1-1-1-x1 STAMPED in the runout. B side label is green with FB 12 STAMPED. White sleeve has No 168 printed. Inner sleeve is brown on the inside and was not sealed. Has Parlophone release sheet. Original version.Version 2 - Purchased from a seller in the US this year. A is usual label but with 12 A -1-1-1-x1 ETCHED in the runout. Also runout is much smaller than Version 1. B side label is white with no etchings. White sleeve has No. 212 printed. Inside sleeve is white on the inside and was shrinkwrapped and sealed. Has Parlophone release sheet.Version 3 - Purchased from a seller in the US this year. A is usual label and with 12 A -1-1-1-x1 ETCHED in the runout. Everything exactly the same as version 2 but with no release sheet or stamping. In my mind version 1 is the real deal due to the stamping and reverse green label.Any thoughts on the others? Original, counterfeit or reissue?

Are there bootleg versions of this? I bought a copy at a record fair, sealed, for $25. I was fairly certain it was legit but I've never been sure. This is the version I have and it has the following etched in the runout: '12 R 6080t A-1-1-1-X1..' and 'L 22971'. The letter is a copy on 8.5x11 thin paper with the top of the Parlophone logo cut off slightly (this is why I've wondered about it's legitimacy). My sleeve is not numbered. I've never come across another one of these. I figured if it was a boot I would have come across another at some point. I've always treated it as legit. Only played it once and it's been in storage ever since.

tsrogers59 kindly emailed me scans of his numbered copy. There are a number of differences between his and mine, most notably, his b-side label is green, mine is white. His b-side is grooved while mine is smooth, and his matrix is stamped while mine is etched. The stamping rings are also different between the two. I believe mine is a counterfeit but I've never seen this bootleged before. I'll be adding a new entry for my copy during my next Discogs session.

For what it's worth, the current picture looks like a boot. EMI at this period (or any that I can think of - save for contract pressings) did not have a groove/indent in the label like in that position. Their matrix numbers were stamped and not etched. I can't say 100% as I've not seen a legit one of these, but it breaks EMI convention of the time.

I just received copy #9. Paper letter was thick stock and the runout is 12 R DJ 6080T. Does your copy have a number on the cover?
