In our country, and maybe others too, "Death Disco" was misunderstood as an anti-disco song; Johnny Rotten's ultimate statement against disco. Maybe because one week after the record entered the UK chart, Disco Demolition Night was held in Chicago, USA...?In reality, John Lydon was undergoing hard times, and punk did not give him any more inspiration. "With PiL, I wanted to do something different. But rock and punk was boring back in the days. The only music I really cared about was disco."The idea of "Death Disco" arose after John saw his mother losing her fight against cancer. Her last wish: make a disco record for her funeral."And so, I was putting myself in her place. I pictured myself what it would be like to be possessed by an unstoppable force destined to ruin your body from the inside... from that point of view, we started to jam. We went on for some six, seven minutes... that's how the track was made."

That it might be but you can't deny it's a pretty good song name.
