Rick Abrams - Wild Goose FLAC

When staying close to the vest and playing old-time fiddle/dance tunes (e.g. Carolina Mountain Fox Chase, Sugar Hill / Forked Deer, The Colored Aristocracy, etc...) this album is fantastic. Rick Abrams' banjo frailing is simultaneously contemporarily inventive and traditionally accurate. Some of the other tracks from the album (e.g. Handsome Molly, Old Mother Flanagan), have more of a folk feel and are somewhat forgettable. All in all a fine release and well worth it as an addition to your bluegrass/old-time/folk library.
