All of Riven's music was composed and performed in Robyn's studio in the basement at Cyan's offices. He worked with a Korg Trinity and a Yamaha VL-1 synthesizer and Opcode's StudioVision software on Macintosh.

Bukus

Probably one of my favorite ambient albums ever. Instantly relaxing and transports you to another place. (5 star)

Hilarious Kangaroo

It's a more mature and accomplished work than Myst but listening to Riven is like being actually transported to that world. For me this is exactly what I want, and I must stress, once you stick this CD into your system your living room will suddenly feel as deserted and lonely as Riven itself and make you feel that there really is nothing out there.

If you like feelings of absolute abandon then go for it. It also helps you to relax after a hard day. It may not be very melodic, substituting theme for atmosphere, but the Myst jingle is still in there. However, if you are the depressive type then the brooding and gloomy sounds might lower your spirits.

Riven is pure mood music. Playing this CD will instantly change your feelings and thoughts. You must buy, it's not just for fans of the game. The CD lasts about 55 minutes and comes an a worryingly flimsy cardboard/plastic case and contains a small booklet featuring archaeological information of D'Ni with several cool looking pictures.
