"After a splendid, sought after 12” on Pyramids Of Mars, an already expensive edits split Ep with Red Axes on Edit Service [...]"Seriously. How low can you go making advertisment for new stuff by refering to sharkified prices of preceding releases?Especially if the sound is rather mediocre...
I don't feel you are saying anything about the music. The sales pitch is probably from the distributor. It says nothing positive or meaningful about the record and perhaps that's the point you want to make....By dwelling on that you also miss the opportunity to tell us about how you experienced the record.Did anyone try and judge Duschamps paintings based on things his dealer or gallery owner said? If so i think it iong forgotten now
This record is not supposed to be rare, and definitely not to be expensive. So much time spent reviewing and writing, you must be a very busy man.
Because i look at todays records more like on works of art: its the whole happening surrounding it thats relevant for an opinion. The marketing of the records is part of this. For example, trying to explain duchamps fountain without the historical context of the last century is impossible.I consider the case of this record to be a good example for a developement i watched throu the last years and i want to share my thoughts on it.Of cause there where "rare records" before, but their prominence grew within years. Today its possible to create a rare and sought after record right on the day its released. It shifts the musical relevance to the sales history and influences the reception of the music. What we have here is a very bad attempt to abuse this. By the way, its not the text of a single shop, ive seen this advertisment a lot more often. I consider this circumstance sad, but interesting as well. Furthermore, its not the artist as a musician i critizise, its the artist as a moral subject being responsibility for his works. And i thinks its very lazy today to just say "i dont care"Discogs is a platform to speak about music and i do so.
Why on earth are you reviewing a shop's sales pitch?? If you want to disrespect the artist at least try demonstrate you have given his work some genuine attention
