Special thanks to: Ruth Komanoff & Nelcy WalkerOriginal Bizarre/Reprise Records release. Vinyl was issued with gatefold sleeve and 12-page color booklet (drawings, photos, paintings). But the reel-to-reel tape was issued without any of those, and the tracks are only listed on the black on silver label on the reel. This was issued in a black box with black reel.
First Category on Spine, then Label, then front cover lower left.
Recorded at Apostolic Studios, NYC October 1967-February 1968 Percussion overdubs at Sunset Sound, LA March-April, 1968 [Note: Sunset Sound Recorders in 1968]
Whereas the vinyl has A3 (later titled "Nine Types Of Industrial Pollution") as "400 Days Of The Year" on label, this reel-to-reel tape has the title "9 Types Of Industrial Pollution", which is reflected in the track list for this tape issue.
I skipped the extended credits carried over from the vinyl release, as sadly there is no 12-page inclusion with the tape which would be consistent with featuring it :( I have kept the vinyl release timings, nice to have, but the labels on this release is the only place with any info, and timings are not listed.Capitol Records Pressing Plant, Los Angeles pressing similar to The Mothers Of Invention - Uncle Meat and The Mothers Of Invention - Uncle Meat
Also designed for continual play on autochanger phonographs (record 1: sides A/D, record 2: sides B/C). Gatefold sleeve. First catalog number on spine and labels, second on front and inside sleeve and on spine too.
The music on this album was recorded over a period of about 5 months from October 1967 to February 1968. Recorded at Apostolic Studios in New York and engineered by Richard Kunc. Special engineering credits go to Jerry Hansen for the percussion effects added later at Sunset Sound in L.A., and to our friend Mike in Copenhagen for the tapes he sent us.
