On the label of the A-side of the LP, the picture is taken from the portrait of Leonardo Loredan, doge of Venice, by Giovanni Bellini. This picture is at the National Gallery in London (free entrance).

Bought the Limited Edition with extra 7" back the days it was released. Listen to it maybe two or three times and put it in my Archive. Today, nearly 20 years later, I rediscovered it and love it. All the Best from Switzerland, beole

I was a poor skint skater bum when this was released, I could have bought it but instead spent my limited funds on dope. This is one of my only regrets. My friend has it on vinyl, I was with him when he bought it, stoned and skint. God damn please Mr Richard D James find some way to repress this one. Please!
Lonesome Orange Kid

Nice album indeed ;) Albion Road rules
Quashant
Stone cold classic album. 202 to Ravetown such a track.

Though it will likely never happen, I dream of a vinyl repress of this release. I legitimately wore a hole in my old CD playing "Land of Conclusion" over the years.

Someone re-master and re-press this please! 5/5 all over!

A hidden gem of an album that's pleasantly surprising and charming with its delightful bouncy analog twiddling sound. Its simple to the point approach keeps tracks short but sweet, not overplaying with unnecessary long build-ups or stretched-out endings! Good feeling vibes mix a sense fun with head-knodding deepness; music that will certainly put a smile on your face with Its catchy bouncy baselines and cool TB303 knob-twiddling acid-techno/house that willl keep you hooked from beginning to end. The albums minimal equipment approach with a bedroom studio feel brings a charming nostalgic 90' post-rave/early morning feel to its analog acid-techno, a sound that remains enjoyable and refreshing even today - old-school, but addictive and charming! A excellent, very well produced, enjoyable and thoughtful album that's certainly worth investigating!

A beautiful record. The Railway Raver takes a classic sound and from it builds something unique and original. Simplistic in style but in my opinion extremely well produced and thoughtful. Smooth but funky 101 basslines, tight & concise drum programming with melodic and punchy beats that never gets boring, rhodes style keys and pads are minimal but fit perfectly, and unlike some of the other artists doing a similar thing, he avoids the temptation to completely drench his tunes in TB303 acid sounds which makes him stand out from the crowd. The classic house style tracks such as "My Lactose(577 N Mix), "Land of Conclusion", "Nesbit's Way" and "To be a man like Ingersol" are probably the cream of the crop, but there really isn't a bad track on here. Unafraid to experiment with more unusual rhythms and ideas that still fit into the overall feel, this really is a well put together release. I agree with the previous comment, this is certainly one of Rephlex's best releases, and epitomises their belief in releasing excellent independent music. One of my favourites.

Another record I can't believe nobody has commented on! This is definately one of Rephlex's finest releases, and a great home listening LP. Fans of old school Chicago, and late 80s detroit techno such as Mr Fingers, Rhythm Is Rhythm, Anthony Shakir, Virgo, Adonis etc (who isn't) will thoroughly enjoy every single track - every single one is a killer. Jordan Muscott has managed to recreate the vibe of the records from that era, while making an original sounding work. Atmospheric, bleepy, experimental, deep and melodic this is definately a must have in anyone's collection.
