The cover art is just exceptional good. The music do the same. Actually worth to pay some 100 euro more as long you are a strong fan.

Yes, The Verve, the super mega indie pop band that knew fame when they started to loose it. Even if "Bitter Sweet Symphony" isn't a bad track, "Urban Hyms", their best-seller album, is very poor when you know their music from the beginning. "A Northern Soul" is their masterpiece, this evidence seems to surface lately; mags like Stylus expressed the same opinion in a very beautiful article I posted 10 days ago or so. That music is drug infused psychedelia with absolutely no restrain, an ode to this senseless shitty life filled with disillusions, pains, absurdities & broken hearts; but regained thru the haze of the incredible guitar riffs of Nick McCabe who's influence on the band's compositions, directions & sound was very strong before being castrated by a (on his way to become) megalomaniac Richard Ashcroft; megalomania that will kill the extraordinary band's identity; only this record remains to testify that those four guys touched the sky and above. This LP is the "Bitches Brew" of rock, the missing link between jazz & rock'n'roll. Certainly decadent, it's no less than a genuine masterpiece that should find its place alongside "Loveless" or "Laughing Stock"… Highly Recommended !!!

You hit the nail right on the head. This record was the fulfillment of the promise of a musical Storm From Heaven. And for Urban Hyms, to heat the bassist tell it, McCabe saved that album and now Ashcroft claims its more or less his first solo album. Record only has about 4 good songs anyway, the rest degenerates into Soft Rock, none of the edge of this record. There wasn’t even a US vinyl release of this, americans are so clueless about the real Verve pre Urban Hymns. No, this teco

why remasters????? it sounded great when released..... what is this re-mastering fever???? i prefer to keep my original releases form back in the day ,,,, i have heard plenty of remasters which end up sounding sterile ,,,, like the magic is gone,,,,

What you say is true about digitization garbage. You should see my comment on the storm in heaven remaster about this .
godlike
Well they could have done a really good job had they cut and mastered it directly from the original tapes but they chose instead to digitally remaster it, so louder. Shame. A big missed opportunity. That said I don't think the original vinyl is all that great either, I had a NM copy of it and it sounded exactly the same as the CD.

I have 2 copies of this, the vinyl on both looks virtually mint but both have a bit of hiss/crackle in the quieter parts, wonder if they are meant to be like it?!Can also confirm that the black part on the front cover is very delicate and wears away revealing the silver underneath

what numbskull paid £640 for this! you need your head read mate!!! I like this album, but it doesn't seem to gel that well. I'm sure it's been said before, but it's like they were going through a transition from their debut album to Urban Hymns.
Unsoo
probably a fake sale from a shark to pump up the median price

anyone have more info on this reissue? like is it going to be a remastered version? what source are they using?
I'm a Russian Occupant
The vinyl was digitally remastered unfortunately, by loudness wars heroes Chris Potter and buddywhasisname from Metropolis. It's louder, so I guess if you like the loudness wars the remaster will be for you.

Best Psychedelic Rock Album - How could anyone say that? More pop than than their début, and less compelling and fully formed than the follow up, this ends up in a dull no-man's land.

Hmmm, know where your comin from butt storm cloud in heaven is the first verve album I heard. Had a great time in a car with a lass called Sam... Can EVERYONE can't get over this frickin thing about, oooh jazz influence, bull, complete tosh just cause it has a sax in it? This lp has a life all it's own.My friends older sister picked it up at the time of its release while she was in London. He let me borrow it when she was back in the states. It struck a chord in me upon first listen, but I did not fully get it / appreciate it till a few years later. This album has been in rotation in my collection for years. It is simply a bench mark of psychedelic rock, and a personal pathway to nostalgia... Truly a favorite album.Bravo!
