Rome's own TIMEBOMB are pretty much the result of their era : a metallic hardcore band that took INTEGRITY (and i would argue some H8000's school of riffs/metal arrangments) to the next step, dropping a record that sounds to my ears as a more guttural and brutish version of the aforementioned band. There is an old school vibe here and there as well, with occasional bursts of BOLT THROWER-ish/almost black metal chaos here and there : at least on this record. Some tracks are good and interesting, while Others tends to be too fucking long, or even confusionary ("Bow" for example. and the following track "When The Blood Calls" is almost an INTEGRITY rip off - cant remember which track) . Luckily, the following album, "The Full Wrath Of The Slave" moved them in the right direction, taking the original influence of the first EP and demo and projecting it to something closer to LIAR and CONGRESS, while remaining in the realm of dark, heavy metallic hardcore. There's more than an hint to old school thrash and that's a plus in my book, where the black metal blast beats are totally out of context, but they're sparse enough to not bore the listener. So if "Hyms…" didnt convince you, you should try "The Full Wrath.." first. Oh, and did i mentioned that they totally drop out of extreme music playing some kind of rock n roll in the end of their career? I guess it makes easiest life's choices. Whatever!
