How far can we sink into sadness and depression ?
This could be a subject for philosophy at school after listening to this monument of Doom Metal... A way down with no turning point into the early first sounds of Earth's natural elements, deep right in the middle of the tectonic plates immerged by dark waters. The goal of this record is to place listeners at the beginning of Earth, when there were no traces of humanity or light. Successful approach. But strangly, it could sounds like the end of all biological organism and all tiny day light. Above all, the last track immerses us in a whirlpool of unhealthy feelings, snapping all our hopes, our fears, our convictions and our past lifes in a never ending black hole... Impressive, gloomy, with a risk of brain damage.

When I'm "older" (I'm already old enough! DOH!) this release in my collection might remind me of a turning point in my life, a proof that you never ever should be old enough to avoid new music. Not that I've ever even been thinking that thought because I've always been "crossover" music-style-wise, but my main focus has always been the electronic stuff.

With this depressingly suicidal sounding doom metal record I'll probably start a new era of my record collection. This record ALONE is enought to force me to think twice about what I'm doing at the moment, buying similar records in abundance each month when there is so much other music to discover, and is that smart?

A friend told me that "I should get out of the kiddie pool" when I praised some music too much in a "I know it all" kind of way. I'll confess any day that it's possible to drown in a kiddie pool but it's unlikely if you're older than 3 years old. Open your eyes! Don't open your mouth! Your ears should always be opened up!

When you're exposed to tracks that stretch beyond 15 minutes in length you've left anything commersial behind you about 12 minutes ago. To even understand the impact a 17 minute doom metal track might do to you requires that you leave ALL the baggage you've gathered during the last few years listening to radio and other media behind you.

To be able to understand this record you MUST leave the path you're wandering on. You won't get lost though! I'm wandering along the same pathway now!
