This is one of Cleopatra's most solid compilations. I know best because I own ALL of their "Various" Industrial compilations and this one stands out. You have Noise Unit's amazing "Kick To Kill" along with other standout tracks from the likes of Electric Hellfire Club, Die Krupps, Leather Strip, and many more. This is a heavy hitting compilation with mixed electro and metal elements. You even get some Front Line Assembly. If your into Industrial get this period.
Heraly
A mixed bag of 'Industrial' groups with two quite obvious agendas: one, that the music should at least lean towards the 'Dance' end of this particular market; and the other being that, overall, guitars are taboo. Little of this could be slipped into the now-dated EBM bracket, which kinda divides what remains into (mostly) sequential pieces and distorted hard 'n' heavy bludgeons. Speaking personally, I doubt that all here will please many without a particularly wide taste, although most people will find a great number of pleasing pieces.
For me, the highlight of this album is (surprisingly, as I kinda find their Occult posturings unconvincing) THE ELECTRIC HELLFIRE CLUB's 'Altamont Mix' of "Night Of The Buck Knives" with its 60's Jazz-sleaze organ sound which should give it a flaky feel, but actually adds a certain character to it's dark subject matter. And cunning inclusion on lyrical reference to "All Along The Watchtower" is kinda clever. Others I feel deserve a commendation include DIGITAL POODLE who manage to save themselves from ridicule ("Blue Monday" drum programming which almost immediately became a cliché) with their CABARET VOLTAIRE "Code"-style chorus punctuation, which still sounds fresh and unusual. LAIBACH whose harder sound is punctuated by decrepit fanfares, setting it apart from the majority here. KILL SWITCH ... KLICK's track from "Beat It To Fit, Paint It To Match" which holds few surprises, but is still a strong medium-pacer. LIGHT OF EUPHORIA have a slight but snappy little brisk-paced song here which warrants further exploration, while BLOK 57 have a dark, sneaky simplicity which seems alive with evil.

That DELERIUM is my favourite LEEB / FULBER project says something about my musical taste, but I have to say the FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY track here is perhaps the best I have ever heard from them. As lean as always, but some interesting samples and noises going on in this. And of course LEÆTHER STRIP always maintain a high quality.

Enchanted? Not really. Entertained? Mostly. This album is more a sampler for complete albums by each artist (proven by the fact that CLEOPATRA include 'taken from' album titles along with catalogue numbers). A good place to start from if you are new to or inexperienced about this area of music. You get most of the leading names in the field gathered together into one quality 16 track CD.
