Various - Happiness & Darkness - Further Adventures In Jungle Tekno FLAC

My copy of the second record has the D side label on both sides, has this happened to the entire pressing?

I played quite a few tunes off this LP at my first-ever DJing gig in Bradford way back in 1993, within a few weeks of its release - by which time, this record had already become one of my all-time favourite compilations (and still is). I was a student at the time, so I had to reduce my vinyl purchases for a few years, so I couldn't buy the 12"s until a few years after buying this compilation.

I had self-promoted and self-ran a one-off night to help fund a local cultural organisation, so I had to play a mixture of music, but it was mostly hip-hop, house and jungle. What was particularly memorable was the response - most of the crowd were booing and/or verbally abusing me - they were clearly expecting commercial tunes.

But a small group of quite clearly in-the-know kids were going MENTAL to these tunes, and were asking for more! I've never been part of the "in-crowd" and I couldn't give a f*** about mainstream acceptance, so I played even more tracks off this LP just to p*** off the haters, and to thank the supporters.

I didn't DJ frequently until a few years after that (due to a combination of my recent marriage, imminent relocation to London and unsocial working hours), but at least I can say that my DJing debut was memorable in more ways than one!

Unfortunately, jungle/d'n'b slowly got worse and worse after 1996, so by the time I was DJing regularly (late 1990s) this kind of stuff was clearly "old skool". But this classic early jungle/d'n'b era will never be forgotten.
