Notes
(from the sleeve)
Massey Hall, Toronto, is the Canadian counterpart of such well-known Temples of Jazz as Carnegie Hall, Riverside, Newport, and our own Festival Hall, and this recording made under the sponsorship of the New Jazz Society of Toronto in the Autumn of 1956, showcases no less than 31 of the finest American modern jazz musicians ever to take breath. Comment by Nat Hentoff of Downbeat, the bible of the jazz music world, was "This is what records are for. It would be a shame to lose this after only one performance."
