Where to begin with this? I highly recommend this album if you're looking for "Home Listening" electronic music. This album has been on repeat while in the house. Looking forward to my next long drive as this would be perfect for that as well. It has a warmth that permeates throughout that makes it hard to not like. This is not a high energy album or for the clubs. The closest song to make that grade would be, "Left On Lucy." The rest of the album otherwise has the vibe of his remix for Sei A's, "Frozen Flower." That song was my introduction to Youandewan. The warmth of that song conveys to his LP with a higher tempo and different styles in terms of drum patterns and samples. The only song to me that didn't stand out was, "Earnest Kelly." The song for me broke the story Ewan was trying to tell. But, it ends on the high note of, "4D Anxiety." If the album's on repeat it would be hard to not play it again. It's very warm and inviting. If hearing just samples it is tough to convey the beauty that is, "Be Good To Me, Poly." I love how that song plays out as do the rest of the songs on the album. Give it your time and you'll be glad you did.
Completely agree on all points, Youandewan hits the nail on the head on this one. Be Good To Me, Poly is a very VERY good song that wouldn't be out of place on a Radiohead album like In Rainbows (the drum break is very similar to Weird Fishes/Arpeggi) but that speaks volumes of Youandewan, his songwriting is great in a landscape filled with samey and formulaic electronic music, refreshing.EDIT: After writing this I went to relisten, Left On Lucy sounds like a theme from a Takeshi Kitano movie remixed, influences of Joe Hisaishi and that kind of music.
